Memory leak with MX Custom Tabs?

Tomorrow would be great!

In the meantime, I’ll check 0.7.0 more carefully.  I’ll try to make sure I’ve got all the fields, that they are displaying properly in the CP and on website, and that saving entries works as expected.  Anything else I should check?

Thanks much for your persistence on this.

So far the fields seem fine, other than their order under each tab.

The biggest issue I’ve seen is that a few entries within one weblog/channel load slowly, then trigger a “slow script” or “page unresponsive” error in the browser.  Clicking the ‘Continue” button loads the page right away.  These entries have lots of playa fields within a matrix (which may change soon).

There are some small issues like a z-index problem: Publish and Edit menus that appear on hover no longer always show on top of the edit page content.

One possible quirk about my setup is that the control panel is restricted to https.  In contrast, the front-facing website is http.

regarding error “slow script”  - unforchantly I saw the same error on EE2 website with big Matrix fields :(.  Last version works better, but its also browser dependent.

Yeah, I can see why you changed your approach with this add-on, making it less browser dependent.

For my particular case, I’m not too worried about the “slow script” error.  My biggest concern is the order of fields under the tabs.  I’m using a specially formatted field that gives overall instructions at the top of each tab.  But with 0.7.0, the instructions field sometimes shows up lower on the page, even at the bottom.

Looking forward to what you come up with next.

Hello Max,

If making a major update isn’t feasible for awhile, could you make a variant on 0.7.0 that includes ordering by ‘field order’ instead of ‘field id’ values?

I can work around the ‘slow script’ error; it’s rare for me.  And those cases may disappear as I restructure some content (needs to be done anyway).

BTW, the current order in the extension settings for Mx Custom Tabs, although incorrect, seems an exact match to the order in the publish/edit screen.  In other words, everything seems consistent, if incorrect.

I’d be happy to help support your development of this addon.  Feel free to make a suggestion of an amount.  Alternatively, I’ll just add to your coffee fund when done.

Cheers.

Oops, my turn to apologize for a slow response.  I’m on holiday and probably won’t get a chance to test out this latest version until after I return on the 15th.  I’ll let you know soon after.  Thanks!

Thanks!  Your modified 0.7.0 file fixes the field order issue…. BUT

Unfortunately, we’ve discovered that both the original and modified 0.7.0 versions have a conflict with Playa 3.1.1.  For weblogs/channels using MX Custom Tabs, the Playa ‘drop panels’ UI mode no longer works (you can’t select an entry).  In contrast, all works fine for weblogs/channels *not* using MX Custom Tabs.

A JS conflict?
